眼睛視網膜受到光或圖形刺激後，在視細胞內引起光化學和光電反應，產生電位改變，形成神經衝動，傳給雙極細胞、神經節細胞，經視神經、視交叉、視束、外側膝狀體、視放射終止於大腦皮質的距狀裂視中樞。這個過程可用電生理學方法記錄下來。視覺電生理是對視網膜至視中樞功能的系統檢查法。它能用客觀無損的方法測量動物視覺功能。
本儀器能測試 full-field ERG、FLASH VEP、Scotopic threshold response (STR) ERG、C-wave ERG、Luminance & frequency series，檢測快速 (20隻小鼠/小時)，且有良好再現性。
After the retina is stimulated by light or patterns, photochemical and photoelectrical reactions occur within the photoreceptor cells, generating a change in potential that forms a nerve impulse. This impulse is transmitted to bipolar cells and ganglion cells, passing through the optic nerve, optic chiasm, optic tract, lateral geniculate nucleus, and optic radiation, finally terminating in the visual center of the cerebral cortex near the calcarine sulcus. This process can be recorded using electrophysiological methods. Visual electrophysiology is a systematic method for examining the function from the retina to the visual center. It can objectively and non-invasively measure the visual function of animals.
This instrument can test full-field ERG, FLASH VEP, Scotopic threshold response (STR) ERG, C-wave ERG, and Luminance & frequency series. The testing is fast (20 mice/hour) and offers good reproducibility.
